Life is filled with ups and downs, and at times, we all face challenges that test our resilience. One of the most profound challenges a person can experience is trauma. Whether it's the loss of a loved one, a serious illness, or a natural disaster, trauma can leave deep scars on our hearts and minds. However, in the midst of adversity, there is also an opportunity for growth. This is known as post-traumatic growth (PTG). What is Post-Traumatic Growth? Post-traumatic growth is a term coined by psychologists Richard Tedeschi and Lawrence Calhoun in the 1990s. It refers to the positive psychological changes that can occur in the aftermath of a traumatic event. PTG does not mean that trauma is beneficial or desirable, but rather it recognizes that individuals can experience personal growth and transformation as a result of their struggles.
