Professional Custom Workshops

Custom workshops are co-created between me and your team.  Below I've outlined the most requested segments in custom workshops, however, I have a vast history of curriculum development, and I'm happy to develop new curriculum based on your organizations needs.
My workshops are:
  • Personalized and non-confrontational.
  • Tailored to your needs: you decide your area of focus.
  • Promote full participation.

Courses are taught using:
  • Lectures by the facilitator
  • Socratic interaction in large groups
  • Pair and small group exercises
  • Creative visualization and games

Established in 2010, I’ve had the time to discover exactly the best way to deliver a combination of fun, high-impact learning, and lasting self-reflection. Depending on your needs, I also frequency include other experts and members of the community as speakers or co-facilitators.

Individual effectiveness is dramatically increased by the skills, strategies, and perspectives learned in my workshops.  Employees who have completed my workshops often demonstrate better teamwork and morale, an improvement in interpersonal communication skills, and an improvement in attitude toward their work. These changes enable employees to experience greater ownership of their individual results, which increases their sense of accountability for the company’s overall success.

Free ConsultationIt all starts with a free consultation where you and I can sit down and discuss the goals and challenges of your business.

Workshop Element Descriptions

Personal reflection prior to the Workshop (Worksheet)

This worksheet allows participants to prepare for the workshop by getting in touch with their own needs, values, goals and challenges.  It also helps to build the box for the safe space that we will share together during out workshop.
Creating Safety and Engagement*

This is where I introduce myself, set the tone for the workshop and help others get active in their learning.  We will talk about the four types of people in the room; acknowledge the choice of where we are and how that choice impacts our personal experience.  We will set ground rules (collectively), define purpose and objectives, and talk about confidentiality and curiosity.   Then, participants will introduce themselves and share which one of the four types they are.
Levels of Listening

We will do a 15 minute pairs listening exercise and then discuss the three levels of listening and how they impact our lives.  This surprising exercise is an experiment in deep listening, and invites participants to refresh a skill they may not be using to its fullest at work.

The Action Path & Checking out Reality

In this section we will discuss the difference between data and story and how we have the power to change our story, that will in-turn change our emotions and our actions/reactions.  We will also discuss how to communicate our story with another person and ‘check out reality’ with that person to get to a higher level of clarity.  This section includes worksheets, group dialogue and lecture.

Responsibility: “My Ability to Respond”

Participants are challenged to look at what responsibility means, and if they are actively choosing it on a daily basis.  This section also covers gossip, taking things personally, and managing emotional triggers.

In this section, we will role-play with various ‘cue cards’ of emotions to have a little fun modeling various types of responses to a single situation.  I will also ask for a volunteer to play with me in an example of ‘taking things personally’.
Agreements and Trust

Not keeping our commitments, or taking actions that are not in alignment with our values, has a cost.  These costs include a loss in self-confidence, energy, self-trust, and clarity.  This cost is high, so being selective about the commitments you made (and break) becomes more important.  When we realize that the cost of not keeping our word is personal, we become more likely to make it a priority.
Compassionate Communication

The way we talk to someone is more important than what we talk to them about.   Learning skills about how to have a conversation (especially a difficult conversation) with another person dramatically increases the chances for success.
Relationships

At work, at home, with ourselves, our clients, co-workers, family, lovers and friends – Relationships are the one thing that is ever-present in our life.  Therefore learning how to successfully ‘grow’ a relationship is a skill that will dramatically impact all areas of your life.
Values and Personality Types

Identifying values and personality types helps teams get along.  If I have a high-value on speed and you have a high-value on thoroughness, we might find ourselves at odds when working on projects together.  For personality types, What matters to a supporter doesn’t matter to a director, and what matters to an analyzer won’t matter to a promoter.  Understanding how different personality types and values can work together can maximize teamwork and decrease judgment.  This is a fun segment that includes a self-test to discover your personality type & values, and then small group work with others of your personality type.

Energy Leadership

Everything is energy. This energy affects everything and everyone. All the time. It’s unavoidable and it’s unstoppable. There are two types of energy: Catabolic – The body generates energy to counteract a stressor. The body will find available energy stored within its system and pull from it to generate energy. Catabolic ideas, relationships and beliefs create disease. Catabolic energy = draining, contracting, resisting.   The other type is: Anabolic – The body builds itself up and grows. Anabolic energy is constructive, expanding, rejuvenating, healing, and sustainable. Anabolic energy = constructive, expanding, fueling. Catabolic and anabolic energies stem from a much deeper level of consciousness or awareness. The key is recognizing these energies and beginning to address and guide them. The first two levels described below are catabolic; each additional level is anabolic, with the “vibration” for teamwork productivity and harmony going up as the levels go up in numerical order.
Designing Next Steps & Closing

At the end of the workshop we will tie it all together and share quiet reflective time in silence, writing, or doing a guided visualization.   It’s different with each group, and we can discuss what your preferences when we design your workshop.   Each person will be asked to sign a ‘Commitment to Self’ sheet that they can take home with them to remind them that although this workshop might have been work-sponsored, ultimately it is about them and the type of life they want to create.

Post Workshop Elements

Group Debrief & Check-in

Amita Coaching can be scheduled to return 4-12 weeks after the initial workshop to ‘check in’ with the group, review commitments, celebrate accomplishments, and re-direct (as needed).

One-on-one Coaching

If one of more specific team members needs or desires individual coaching, that can be done weekly, bi monthly or monthly In-person or via Skype.

Space & Materials

It is helpful to have everyone in one large space.  This space should have a door, keeping the workshop safe and confidential is an important part of the process.   We’ll need a space to move around and the ability to break into groups and pairs easily.  We’ll need flipcharts or a white board and markers.
